Career opportunity: We currently have a career opportunity for a Manager, Commissions to join our Finance team. This role will be located at our head office in Vancouver, BC.
The Manager, Commissions is responsible for end-to-end oversight of advisor compensation and commission processing across the organization. This role acts as the first line of defense for commission accuracy, advisor inquiries, and issue resolution while driving continuous improvement across systems, controls, documentation and reporting. This role will collaborate with varying departments and internal stakeholders, and we are looking for a highly motivated, high performing, results driven candidate.
Key responsibilities:
Own end-to-end commissions process and serve as the primary escalation point for commission-related inquiries across the organization
Ensure accurate calculation, reconciliation, and payout of commissions, including advisor-specific exceptions and non-standard arrangements
Review and validate commission files, exception reports, reconciliations, and supporting working papers
Investigate discrepancies by tracing issues across systems, commission platforms, and accounting records to drive issues to resolution
Partner with Finance on month-end close, variance analysis and management reporting related to commissions
Support regulatory filings and external audits by maintaining strong internal controls, audit trails and detailed working papers to support analysis and explanations
Work closely with other departments to ensure commissions calculations and payouts comply with regulatory requirements, advisor agreements and fee schedules
Continuously identify opportunities to streamline commissions workflow, improve documentation and reduce manual adjustments
Support system enhancements, reporting improvements and automation initiatives while maintaining detailed process documentation
Support onboarding of new advisors from a compensation and operational readiness perspective
Qualifications & experience:
Minimum 5 years experience in commissions accounting and advisor compensation within the financial services or wealth management industry
Strong understanding of advisor compensation models, commission structures and regulatory considerations
Experience working in a CIRO-regulated environment is an asset
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in accounting or financial management
CPA designation is an asset
Advanced working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
Sage Intacct or other enterprise-level accounting software and commission platform experience is an asset
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem solving skills
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with competing deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex matters clearly to non-finance stakeholders
Salary Range: $100,000- $115,000 per annum (actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience, and internal parity).
